The Heat

Disclaimer: Thank you Maggie Swalko and Danielle for the Ticket to The Heat! I had an amazing time!

My Ticket
If there is one thing that you take away from reading this post.. or maybe this entire blog... is that you MUST go see the movie The Heat- staring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. By far my favorite movie right now- well one of my favorites. Its right up there with Cars, Sex and the City, Blind Side and Pretty Woman (I know my movie choice isn't the most normal..) Made by the same director of Bridesmaids, and with a hint of action. It was the perfect combination of all emotions. I laughed, I was very scared and I may or may not have shed a tear or too- wait.. the tears may have been because I saw Ben Affleck- but that's a whole other paragraph.
So if you don't know what movie I am talking about here is the link to the movie sight. And I will give you a nickle if you don't laugh at least once during it.

Maile and Me

I am so happy that I was able to spend last Monday with my DG sister Maile! And boy was it a great day for us! Maile met me at my room- and I took her on my special uptown tour of "see as much as possible and walk as much as possible." The starting rate is 'keep me company' and goes all the way to 'lets have a great time.' I don't ask much for payment of my tours- usually because I get company and that's just fine with me.

But before you read any further- I MUST tell you the craziest moment Maile and I experienced in Times Square. There are tons of characters walking around times square- Buzz and Woody, Batman, Statue of Liberty (well 2 of them...) you get the picture- the ones from Disneyland.. Well we were passing Minnie Mouse and all of a sudden Minnie lifts her head piece, throws up, and just walks away. About 15 people must have all seen it- and we all stood there in shock, thinking "did that really just happen." Com'on Minnie- there are kids everywhere. I will never have the same idea of Minnie Mouse anymore- she hit an all time low that morning, Sunday night must have been too much fun for her..

Sex&TheCity

Sometimes I wonder if I was someone in my past life, of if I will be someone in my next life. Let me tell you- I no longer wonder who I was or will be, because I already chose! You may say it doesn't work like that, you can't choose- well I don't care I did. I will be..drum roll please...

Lower Manhattan Outing

The great thing about New York is that there is so much to do an see everywhere you go. Along with seeing things, there are some of the most iconic landmarks throughout this city. So much has happened here during our country's history, some good, and some tragic. The rise and fall of the stock market happened vividly here in the financial district, a plane landed in the Hudson River, the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and the French gifted us with a large green statue.

So Juicy

So New York and I have been in a very love/hate relationship. I love it here, but I hate it. I am amazed at everything the city has to offer but I am baffled that in city of over eight million I am so lonely every day. I see thousands of people when I roam the city, but I am always alone. I hate it, but I love it. Everyday it seems that a majority of my day is spent around others, but I don't ever interact with them. One thing I do love about traveling alone is that I can see and do whatever I want and no one can stop me. I feel like superwoman.

Enough of my thoughts- you are reading this blog for the juicy details into my summer adventures. and let me tell you they are JUICY...

Summer Time in the City

eeeek! Its FINALLY summer! I am so excited! I took my last final in the NYU library today and I could not be happier! I can finally fully enjoy New York without having to come back to my room and study! My frist day of summer was full of 'first'- some of which you may not believe unless I got photos- so I made sure I did.

deebs

so I feel that I should take a quick moment for those of you who dont know why my blog is titled 'deebs'

There are roughly three New Yorks

"There are roughly three New Yorks. There is, first, the New York of the man or woman who was born here, who takes the city for granted and accepts its size and its turbulence as natural and inevitable. Second, there is the New York of the commuter- the city that is devoured by locusts each day and spat out each night. Third, there is the New York of the person who was born somewhere else and came to New York in quest of something." - E.B. White
And I am that third New York person, in search of something that I don't even know of yet.

DBA

Working at Digital Brand Architects has been such an amazing experience so far. I have learned so much, and I know I will continue to learn every day I am there. The people I work with are so knowledgeable and I am so lucky to have this opportunity. I have been able to do research, work with different accounts, and even pin photos of One Direction. Who says the working world isn't fun? The 15 minute walk to work isnt bad at all- unless its a torrential downpour, which was two of the four days I worked last week. yay. Aside from doing work, I have also taken up some part-time modeling gigs for Claire's. Okay so not really 'modeling' per say. But I did go Instagram famous- only took me 4 days in the big city to get famous. For National Donut Day we Instagramed my infamous sock bun and all of a sudden tween girls were chasing me all across New York asking me to sign their donut.

 as SNL would put it...
(Thanks Vicky for that one)

Welcome to the NYU life

Well I have survived my first week in the big apple. When people say 'big apple' they should really emphasize the 'BIG' in it. This place is massive. Luckily I am good with directions and numbers- all streets are numerical- easy enough.  I think one of the best parts about where I am living is the GORGEOUS walk down fifth ave with the Empire State in the distance.

I know-jealous? It's only visible when its not raining. And given this past few days here, the non stop rain has not allowed me to take in this view. But looking towards this upcoming week it looks promising. Thunderstorms. Partly cloudy. Rain. Partly cloudy. Oh- Sun on Saturday which is important so I can go exploring.

I should probably back track a bit and talk about where I am living- besides that its on fifth avenue. Well its the NYU dorms- Rubin to be exact. I live on the 4th floor with my roommate Olivia who is from upstate New York.

Living at NYU means I had to get another form of identification. They need to make an app for all the different ID cards we have.   Lucky for me they messed up my ID card and put that I am a student instead of just summer housing. Getting into NYU as a student was the easiest thing- I didnt even have to submit a transcript or write an essay (insert the laughing/crying iphone emoji face). Well since they messed up that means I can continue to use the ID until 2017- which is when they think I'm going to graduate, sorry I'm done next year. Good thing- this means I get discounted movie tickets for years to come- that's pretty much the only use they have.

Were not in Corvallis anymore

Well the journey has officially started. A non-stop red eye from PDX to JFK has landed and I feel like im in a whole new world. The JFK airport alone was enough to make me panic about the decision to fly across the country alone.
The view of New Jersey was gorgeous flying in, and enough to make my nerves and excitement collide.
Once landing I thanked God that all my luggage made it there safely- who knows what I would have done if I lost a bag.
The shuttle drove me all the way to 35th 5th Avenue- I still can't believe that I am living on 5th Avenue- like THE FIFTH AVENUE. I think this whole trip is going to be very exciting...
