4th of July

Every year America's look like the flag threw up on them. Everyone is always red white and blue galore celebrating our freedom by cookouts and drinking too much. It's what we do best. This 4th I was able to spend it in the great city of New York- and let me tell you us New Yorkers (yes I called myself a New Yorker) really know how to celebrate it.

Kaylee, Erica and I started our festive day off with a walk trying to get to the East River. Well that ended badly. We never made it to the river because we were worried about our safety. took a few wrong turns and we strongly believe we were the only white and Japanese girls in a 10 block radius. We quickly realized this was not in our best interest to be over there so we power-walked back to good ole 2nd Ave and 12th street- where are favorite bars are at.
We were DYING for water so we asked for three waters. The woman comes back and they are all plastic cups.. The woman hands me the cup and we made a lousy exchange because the water when all over the table. She goes "Let me go get some rags for you" UM EXCUSE ME? Not my fault we made a pour exchange, and you are serving water in plastic cups- but its not for me to clean up. You are the one whose working. She then proceeded to ask if everything was alright- um no..? im soaking wet, my bag is wet, and you have a lot of sass. We moved outside to the hot and humid air to distance ourselves from this woman and had a nice afternoon.
In New York everyone tips on everything- well honey if you have poor service i don't mind not leaving you one. Luckily we were trying out a new place (our favorite spot is the one right behind us) and I will remember not to ever go back there.

The rest of the fourth was so much fun! We put aside the waitress who was probably just annoyed she had to work on the 4th and we got ready in our red white and blue outfits to hit the town. Erica had met this guy and he was having a party at his pent house over looking Times Square- pretty snazzy spot if i say so myself. So we headed over to his house to watch the fireworks but first had a little photo shoot in Times Square.

DISCLAIMER: WE DID NOT AUDITION!!!!!

Okay- We were going to meet up at this guys apartment and the address was slightly in the middle of two doors. We choose the left door, and walked in. The room was bright, filled with mirrors and red tiles with an entry desk right near the door. We looked for the elevators to go to the pent house. This sketchy guy came downstairs and asked if we were there to audition. Kaylee, Erica and I were confused- we were just trying to meet Ben. After exchanging some confused words with this man we were told that we are in the lobby of an X-rated film studio and the additions are held on the pent house..... yeah bad.......
We high tailed our butts out of that lobby and into the next door on the right. We opened the door to a nice quaint lobby of an apartment complex and asked the doorman if Ben lived in the pent house- and he did. We also asked if someone had played a joke on us next door and the man blushed and apologized for the inconvenience...so that is how our night started. God Bless America.

After a slight hiccup in the evening we finally made it to our rooftop destination. And it was pretty sweet! A rooftop overlooking part of times square is not a bad view. Fireworks on the Hudson were slightly visible too. Well since the entire city of Manhattan goes over to the Hudson River for the fireworks- when they are done they all have to take the subway to get home. We had a prime view of the thousands of people trying to get on the subway. The police were out there controlling traffic and it just looked like a mess. The photo I have is towards the end of the night. Add in about a few thousand more people and that's what it was like when the fireworks had just ended.

Overall Kaylee, Erica and I had a great 4th. I'd have to say it was one of my favorites- even though we had a few bumps during the day nothing beats celebrating our country's freedom.

xoxo
